This is the year Josh Smith should be an All-Star. The Hawks are finally winning some. Riding on a five game win streak, they’re currently sitting 4th in the Eastern Conference behind Boston, Detroit and Orlando.
J. Smooth is playing really well on both ends of the floor. Averaging 17.3 points, 8.1 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 1.9 steals, 3.1 blocks. Save for the rebounds, these are career best. His free throw percentage is higher but his field goal percentage and turnovers need improvement.
The high flier is a mainstay in the daily game highlights with his. Vote for him now.
I traded for him by the way, giving up the struggling Pao Gasol.

Seven-time formula one world champion Michael Schumacher shocked a cab driver by taking over the wheel in order to be on time for a flight.
Schumacher flew into the aerodrome at the Bavarian town of Coburg on Saturday and took a taxi to the village of Gehuelz, 30km away, to pick up a new puppy - an Australian Shepherd dog called “Ed”.
back to the airport they were short on time and, after a polite request, cab driver Tuncer Yilmaz watched in wonder as Schumacher took the wheel.
“I found myself in the passenger seat, which was strange enough, but to have “Schumi” behind the wheel of my cab was incredible,” Mr Yilmaz told the Muenchner Abendzeitung.
“He drove at full throttle around the corners and overtook in some unbelievable places.”
Mr Yilmaz was well rewarded for the unusual journey - on top of the 60 euro ($A100) fare, he was also given a 100 euro ($167) tip.
Schumacher’s spokesperson Sabine Kehm later confirmed the story.
The German track ace, who now lives in Switzerland, retired from formula one in 2006 after a glittering career and, despite test drives for his old team Ferarri, has insisted there is no chance of a return to racing.

Translated interview with Raikkonen: (thanks to AFCA from the autosport forum)
Q: ”Kimi, welcome back to work. It’s something different returning to work as a worldchampion, isn’t it ?
Raikkonen: ”It’s definately a nice feeling. But winning the title hasn’t changed my life. It is what I wanted, what I had always desired to become when I started driving. I’ve tried it for many years, I’ve come very close to it twice. At the end it came to me.”
Q: It’s a very special championship.
Raikkonen: ”Special because it was a really unexpected one. In fact, at some stage we looked beaten. We’ve overcome our difficulties and we’ve done it. It’s true, finishing first like that has a different taste to it.”
Q: Some people say that on the night after becoming worldchampion, you’ve celebrated in a rather, how do you say it…. obstreperous fashion…
Raikkonen: ”Hehe…we’ve had a nice party and that was all.”
Q: But the story didn’t even end there. How did you experience the ‘fuel case’ that could have cost you the title ?
Raikkonen: ”I wasn’t worried. It’s a mood I always try to avoid getting in. Let’s say I was rather confident. There were no reasons to change the result in Brasil. It’s true that you’re never certain of anything. This year really a whole lot of things happened.”

After tonight, beating the Celtic’s Big Three, LeBron James’ nickname will be The One. As he has in the past few games, he has carried his team almost entire by himself, against the Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen.
The moniker the Chosen One first appeared on yahoo sports yesterday. But he can appropriately be called simply ‘The One’.
CLEVELAND (AP) — LeBron James handed the Celtics’ Big 3 loss No. 2.
Cleveland’s superstar scored 38 points, hitting a crucial 3-pointer and all six free throws in overtime as the Cavaliers won their fourth straight, 109-104 over Boston and its heralded trio.
James, playing the best ball of his career, scored 11 points in OT as the defending Eastern Conference champions dropped the Celtics to 11-2 with one of their best all-around performances of the early season.
James added 13 assists and finished 14-of-15 from the line. Drew Gooden scored a season-high 24 points and Zydrunas Ilgauskas had 15 with 14 rebounds for Cleveland as the Cavs’ top threesome outscored Boston’s Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen and Paul Pierce 77-64.

Even when LeBron James carried the Cavaliers to the NBA Finals last year, I was still reluctant to say he’d be the greatest NBA player when he retires. Like most skeptics, I thought it was a fluke. That they were in a weak conference. That a rookie - ‘boobie’ got hot at the right time. But after following the first couple of weeks of NBA basketball this year, I’m now officially a believer of LeBron James.
With only Drew Gooden, an aging Z Ilgauskas, a shooting point guard in Daniel Gibson, and Sasha Pavlovic, as his supporting cast, he has to absolutely carry the Cavaliers on his shoulders. He has to give monster game efforts just to stay about .500. And indeed he has.
Every year, since he was a rookie, he has improved his game. I thought that last year, LeBron has reached the peak. But from his numbers so far this season, he hasn’t. He is back at 31 points per game. And upped both his rebounds and assists to 8+ per game. His steals is at 2.6. But surprisingly, he’s added yet another dimension with his 1.6 blocks per game from last year’s 0.7. If he’s team is reach the Finals again, he has to maintain these numbers all year.
Next year, he will yet add another notch to his level. He recognizes his weakness at the free throw line - .69+. He will be working on it the whole year. If he reaches .80+ he will be the most complete player statistically.
He was hyped when he was rookie. But now he is proving to everyone that he is way above all the hype.

The Boston Celtic’s three headed monster of Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen are dominating the NBA.
Everyone knew the Celts could score, even fearing if there’d be enough balls to go around. They’re scoring an average points of 104. The three are averaging at least 20 points per game. But what most people probably didn’t expect was how the team is defending well, limit their opponents to 87 points, beating them by 17.
With their supporting cast of Rajon Rondo, Kendrick Perkins, James Posey are complementing them well, they’re completely unstoppable at both ends of the floor. They’ve now won 7 in a row. And 70 win season is pretty much in the bag. Could they win it all? It certainly looks after three weeks of NBA.

Michael Schumacher has been testing at Ferrari this week. Driving the championship winning car, he’s been blowing away the other drivers on the track. It is clear that even after a year off the track that he still has a lot in him.
He’s insisting that he’s not even contemplating a return. But returning to F1 now would seem very enticing. F1 has just doubled it’s fan base thanks to a great year of drama on and off the track provided by Hamilton, Alonso, and Raikkonen. Traction control would be banned next year, giving him and his natural skills great advantage. Ferrari has just returned to form, would he allow Raikkonen to eat away at his records? Would he pass up an opportunity to get some more for himself?
Ferrari has locked up it’s drivers line up for the next couple of years. Coming from a championship winning year, they probably wouldn’t want to shake things up. Wait.. they are shaking things up. Ross Brawn has been out. Jean Todt looks to be out too. And subscribing to a conspiracy theory that Felipe Massa is being managed by Todt’s son, the three of them are being pushed out.
McLaren has a seat open. But would they make the same mistake as putting a World Champion next to their Golden Boy? McLaren has lost much face this year.Getting Schumacher on board would revive their image. Not only that, they would probably end their championship drought.
We’ve seen how exciting it is to watch a three way battle for a championship. Imagine Raikkonen, Alonso, Schumacher, Hamilton. All four fighting even for the least point just to get ahead.
